Cuban Yordan Álvarez, star of the Houston Astros, and Japanese Yu Darvish, pitcher for the San Diego Padres, were recognized as the Players of the Week in the Big leagues (MLB).

Álvarez, who had a three-homer Friday, led batters in runs (10), home runs (5) and extra-base hits (9). In addition, he posted a .520 average with an OPS of 1.836.

For his part, Darvish looked dominant in his victories against Marineros and Cascabele. The right-hander allowed three hits and walked one in 14 innings.
The Japanese pitcher’s wins were key for the Padres to get back into the race for the National League wild card spots.
