Presenting the biographies of the generals loyal to Swaraj, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s coronation ceremony, Aurangzeb’s restlessness, the southern campaign planned for the expansion of Swaraj, the departure of the Maharajas, then Soyrabai’s politics to make Rajaram Maharaj the king, Hambir Rao’s opposition to install Sambhaji Raja on the throne despite being a close brother, campaigning with Sambhaji Raja , skinning of the Portuguese and finally martyrdom bearing the wounds of Swarajya on his chest are all presented in this film. After the interval, the movie really tightens the grip more than before the interval. Every scene is riveting. There is an inconsistency in the two scenes after Chhatrapati’s departure. Thrilling dialogues with perfect phrasing are enough to make the audience chant ‘Jai Bhawani, Jai Shivaji’. In some places, the movie is emotional. The lyrical side is not impressive. It was necessary to add an edge to the folk music of Shiva’s time. Mahesh Limaye’s camera work is amazing. From the costumes to the get-up and art direction to the action scenes, everything has been improved. Some shortcomings remain, but it is not a problem to ignore them.
