Leeds United have rejected a £26m Champions League bid for the Brazilian-born star

Portuguese outlet O Jogo has reported that Leeds United have rejected a £26m bid by Portuguese champions FC Porto for Ottavio. Assist Machine is the latest of several players associated with Leeds United.

The 27-year-old has been a mainstay of FC Porto’s side since joining the club in 2014. Since then, they have won three Liga NOS titles – playing 237 times in the process. He’s a helper machine, with 62 at the time.

One out of every four games is quite a record – FC Porto scoring the odd goal with 24 in colours. A hardworking midfielder with an end product. That’s all Leeds United needs to turn the quality of Rafinha.

Barcelona are struggling to afford their £65million price tag – while Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea are keen. Reports said he would support a move to Chelsea at Arsenal, due to Champions League qualification.

Leeds United have been linked with Kean Lewis-Potter, Hakim Ziyech and Charles de Catelair in the past 12 hours. But he has actually made a bid for Ottavio, who has been knocked back.

How wonderful it would be to sign Ottavio. A player Jurgen Klopp reportedly loves, requested Liverpool to strike a deal for the winger last summer. Of course, Liverpool have since signed Ottavio’s old teammate Luis Diaz.

Perhaps unfortunately only to receive seven Portugal caps, the Brazil-born star will be signing a de facto statement for Leeds United. He says the tenacity, aggression and quality in the last third that will be missing when Rafinha leaves.

If Leeds United can get him for less than £35 million, that’s good business. Whether they will return for a second offer and continue pursuing Ottavio after being turned down for £26m remains to be seen.
