Another cruel phase is underway

A few months after the series premiere, it was announced on 18 augustth2021, that the hit record Ragnarok anime will return for a second season.

As part of the renewal announcement, an exclusive illustration from character designer Masaki Sato was shared online, showing some of the fantastic characters Season 1 threw in.

In response to the renewal, director Masao Okubo described season 2 as “a fierce battle between hanzoku (Chinese characters) in the heavenly realm, born out of pre-existing relationships and conflicts!”

“Face to face on the streets of London night. Battle of the wills between the men in the ring, etc. The friendship and trust born in the fight. The feelings of the friends who watch over them. There is so much to see in this edition. One The entire staff is working hard to make a film that everyone will love.” – Masao Okubo, via Ragnarok-Official.

While the news of the renewal was welcomed, the vast majority of fans were expecting such a confirmation after the conclusion of the first broadcast in 2021. Despite a somewhat overwhelming rating of 6.2/10 on IMDb, 65% on Anilist and 3.5/5 on Anime Planet, the series certainly made an impression on fans.

On MyAnimeList for example, Ragnarok’s record only managed a 6.63/10 rating, but with over 113,000 reviews and nearly 200,000 members, the series was clearly popular enough to deserve a second season.

“It’s an anime made to show incredible fighting. Its story is different, though it doesn’t introduce any sort of complexity, it’s direct and it does what it promises. The art and animation are decent , although they are dull from time to time, there are moments where they become wonderful … the characters are interesting and lovable, as they start with existing characters and make small changes to them, albeit a Can achieve great creations, although of course, they lack originality.” – User gambling000, via MAL.

Then we have the source material, i.e. the availability of more source material from the original light novel series that the production team can use. Per AnimeGeek, episode 12 corresponds to the end of the manga volume 5; However, there are currently a total of 15 tankbon versions available in Japan.

If the anime maintains the same pace of episode-chapter adaptations, there is potentially enough source material from the manga for three Netflix seasons.

However, we’re getting ahead of ourselves now – when will the record for Ragnarok Season 2 release for online streaming?
